Take Action to Protect TPS Families

The Massachusetts TPS Committee, in partnership with the National TPS Alliance, is calling for a National Week of Action to Protect TPS Families from October 6th through 10th. We are asking unions, faith-based organizations, and community groups to stand with us to fight for families with TPS across the country who are losing their legal status and ability to work or run their businesses. They are facing impossible decisions that could separate their families.

The TPS community is a story of hope, hard work, and dignity!

The struggle for dignity and justice for TPS families is much more than a story of migration; it is a deeply American story. It is the story of mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons who, for decades, have worked tirelessly to build a better future here in the United States.

People who have lived under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are not strangers in our communities. They are our neighbors, coworkers, friends, teachers, sports coaches, community leaders, and volunteers in our churches.

TPS recipients are active in parent associations at schools and are part of unions and organizations that strengthen our society. They have contributed and continue to contribute to the economic, cultural, and human heart of this country. However, this resilient community is now facing one of its most difficult moments: the Trump administration's cancellations of TPS.

A member of the Massachusetts TPS Committee from Nepal, who just lost his TPS protections, recently wrote:

“Without TPS, I, and nearly 8,000 other people from Nepal, can be captured by ICE and forcibly deported from the US. I have also lost my ability to work, which I have done in various manufacturing and biopharmaceutical industries for the last 7 years, applying the knowledge from my degree received in Northern Indiana. In addition, it has shattered my dreams of going to graduate school next year, where I plan on pursuing my master's and PhD degrees in the next six years and giving back to the country that has been my home for over a decade.”

  3. On Wednesday, October 8th, we are asking unions to stand with their members who are TPS holders by taking action through calls to the offices of their elected officials, sharing stories on their social media, and making a public statement in support of TPS families.

  4. On Thursday, October 9th, we are calling on faith-based and community organizations to take action to support TPS families. This includes hosting vigils, holding rallies at elected officials' offices, and calling their elected officials to demand the extension of TPS.

  5. Empower the voices of TPS families who live in Massachusetts by donating to support upcoming travel to Washington DC and San Francisco so they can speak directly to federal elected officials and at upcoming TPS national appeals court hearings.
